its not for myself. i am helping my mother in law. shes trying to declare bankruptcy because she cant keep up with all the loans shes made over the years. she went to a lawyer and the lawyer wants her to have a document stating all the loans that shes currently in the process of trying to pay off. Problem? She doesnt even know how many loans she needs to pay off…shes messy and her letters and documents are scattered all over the house (yeah i know….i got a headache trying to find em all today and i have no idea how a human could have dug themselves in a hole this deep), in total i would estimate she owes like 77,000 dollars~ Bottom line is, unless we know what exactly she owes the lawyer wount help her. Is there any type of website where she can type in her social and all her debts and loans and watnot would pop up?????? I pray that there is such a site because itd be a lifesaver, thank you.
Sorry but such a site would be a gross invasion of privacy and if such a site existed, most people would be suing that site. Although the SSN is a relatively secure concept, many people and organizations need to know your SSN and so potentially, any of these people could do what you apparently want to do.
It is a loan customer’s responsibility to keep track of their loans. Your spouse should actually be doing this as it is his/her mother with the problem
No such database exists.
The only thing that might help would be to pull her credit reports. These should show all current and defaulted loans going back 7 years. However, there is no guarantee that this will list all loans.
If a person “forgets” about a loan when they file for Chapter 7, then they might have to pay that back if it’s not included in your Chapter 7 filing.
- You can get a free credit report at http://www.annualcreditreport.com – This is the real free site to get your credit report once a year without a credit card.
- Are these creditors aggressively coming after your mother in law? If they are not, there might not be any urgent reason to file Chapter 7. If these are really old debts, like over 4 to 5 years, then they might be past the statute of limitations.
